Soft Robotics

When we think of robots we often think of machines with hard or rigid structures that can perform tasks faster and more efficiently than humans. Now however, as the robotics industry is evolving we are seeing more and more new technologies being introduced to manipulate these robots into having even higher efficiency, speed, and productivity.

One such developing field is that of Soft Robotics. Soft Robots are made up of highly flexible and pliable bodies that allows them to deform and move in a free and unconstrained manner.

Soft robots are quite useful in a variety of different fields such as:

-Medical: Their soft bodies can deform and easily move through the human body which helps in identifying internal injuries and even performing surgery.

-Space Exploration: Soft robots being lightweight allows for easy movement and mobility in space on rocky terrains.

-Prosthetics: Soft robots can be used as prosthetics for individuals who have lost their limbs. The robots can be molded into different shapes and sizes to create personalised limbs.

-Nature + Animals: Soft robots can also be configured to imitate the movement of animals and plants to help researchers interact and better understand them and their environment.

These are just a few examples of how Soft Robotics can be implemented in the real world. CLearly, this is a fast growing field and i'm sure in just a few years it will become one of the biggest fields of research in our society !!
